The Atari 7800 was not only the last official home video game system from the "original" Atari, but also has deep connections into the history of classic arcade games. From its development by General Computer Corporation, its purpose built design for classic arcade game translations, and it's total mishandling by what would become Atari Corp. in 1986, the 7800 is a story of missed opportunities and strange successes.
